Summary

Bryant University invites applications for the position of Department Chair of Accounting in the College of Business, to begin Fall of 2026. The successful candidate will hold the rank of Associate Professor or, preferably, Full Professor and will serve as the academic and administrative leader of the Department of Accounting.
The Chair will guide the department’s strategic direction, support faculty development, and ensure that the curriculum remains innovative, relevant, and aligned with AACSB accreditation standards. The position includes a reduced teaching load to allow for administrative responsibilities, as well as opportunities to continue active research and professional engagement.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Department of Accounting, including strategic planning, curriculum oversight, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary representative of the department to the College of Business, University administration, accrediting bodies, alumni, and the business community.
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty, fostering a collegial and inclusive academic environment.
  • Promote excellence in teaching, research, and service.
  • Engage with the accounting profession to ensure the program’s relevance and maintain strong ties with industry partners.
  • Manage departmental budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses, with a reduced teaching load consistent with administrative duties.
  • Maintain an active scholarly research agenda.

Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Record of scholarly and professional achievement commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (with tenure) or Full Professor.
  • Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
  • Evidence of successful leadership or administrative experience in an academic setting preferred.
  • Professional experience and corresponding credentials such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, etc.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and the professional accounting community.
