
Executive Director of RareNet at McGovern Institute
Job Description
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, RARENET (MIT RARE BRAIN DISORDERS NEXUS), McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to manage this exciting new initiative under the guidance of the faculty director; work with the faculty director on strategic planning, project evaluation and selection; organize and lead the international rare brain disorder consortium including organizing SAB meetings and symposiums; lead a small group to set up and run the translational pipeline; manage research project progress towards milestones; work with PI on preparing and submitting grants/proposals; manage RareNet budgets, including following resource allocation requirements for general supplies and working with MIT financial officers to keep budgets in line; participate in and oversee RareNet research activities, including developing new systems/processes to improve operations, troubleshooting and developing solutions to problems; coordinate external/internal collaborations, meetings, and events; serve as liaison to faculty director on all personnel matters, including hiring, onboarding, and reappointing lab personnel; and manage/oversee RareNet website, digital media and Newsletter.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: A PhD or MD degree in neuroscience or related scientific field; a minimum of five years of experience in both academia and industry on developing and translating discoveries for clinical development for rare brain disorders; strong neuroscience knowledge and technical skills including molecular biology, gene therapy and animal model testing; experience with grant proposal development and submission; experienced in grant budget management; strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication and presentation skills; and ability to work as part of a diverse team and to lead internal and external collaborations.
